1689年　初代長兵衛が近江の国の“饗庭（あいば）”より、都に出て店を開く。
七代目よりうちわ専門店となり、御所うちわの伝統を伝える「京うちわ」を作り続ける。
現当主は、その十代目。『阿以波』のみとなった京うちわの製作技術を今に伝えるとともに、新たな「うちわ文化」を創造し続けています。

: 差し柄の構造で魅せる　優美な四季京うちわは、うちわ面と柄を別に作り、後から柄を差し込む構造。宮廷で用いられた御所うちわをルーツとし、柄はしばしば漆に金彩を施すなど、優美な趣も魅力です。
うちわの骨となる竹の加工から紙の張り合わせ、仕上げまで、すべてを手作業で行います。
竹は丹波の四～五年もの、紙は越中・八尾の手漉き楮紙を、柄の部分は栂・杉材を用いるなど、国内産の材料にこだわっています。

"Kyo Uchiwa" separately makes up a moderate face and the handle, and is a structure of "Opening handle" that inserts the handle later.
"Gosho Uchiwa" used in the court is assumed to be a root, and elegance graceful as gold foil is given to the lacquer is a charm in the handle.
Everything is done from the processing of the bamboo that becomes the bone of moderate to sticking together and the finish of paper by the hand work. It is particular about a domestic material.
