Born and brought up in mountainous Yamagata prefecture, part of Tohoku region.
After studying Kyo-sashimono (Kyoto-style sashimono (*))and urushi crafts,she returned to Yamagata for starting a career as a woodworking artist. Her major works are tools for daily life including spoons and folks made of natural woods which add warmth to them.
Each item is chiseled by hand leaving marks clearly. It fits comfortably in your hand being easy to grip.
(*) Sashimono: Furniture and other household things made by assembling wooden pieces without any joint parts such as nails.
